The OmniEngine Monitor is a plug-in that collects and aggregates statistics from multiple OmniEngines into a single graph. The plug-in will also trigger an alarm if any one of the engines stops capturing packets.Important note about OmniPeek 6: This plug-in only works with OmniEngine 5.x. Please contact support for more information about future compatibility with OmniEngine 6.x
Instructions:
First, download and install the OmniEngine Monitor.
Next, create a local capture, and select the OmniEngine Monitor Adapter.
This type of adapter does not capture and insert packets into the capture buffer. In fact, most of the views will not display any data.
Once the capture window appears, select the OmniEngine Monitor View, add an OmniEngine, double click it, fill out the details, and hit OK.
When you are ready to begin monitoring, hit the \"Start Monitor\" button. The OmniEngine Monitor will connect to each engine and list the captures running on each.
Within a few seconds you should see a line in the graph for each capture from each engine you have defined and enabled. This assumes you have captures defined and running in these engines.
The “Captured Packets” graph represents the number of packets captured since the last interval.
The OmniEngine Monitor also collects all of the stats from all of the captures on all of the engines that are being monitored and adds them to the Summary Stats View. In this way, stats from different captures and engines can be graphed together.
If the global monitor has been enabled, the stats will also be added to it. This way alarms can be set on any of the stats as well.
Thanks, and we are looking forward to your feedback.
